Gordana Sunaric Mégevand trained ophthalmology at the University Hospital Geneva, followed by a 3 years fellowship in glaucoma and anterior segment surgery in Capetown, South Africa.
After several years of clinical and basic science activity at the University Hospital in Geneva where she was the head of the Glaucoma Unit she is now affiliated to the Rothschild Foundation, Hospital General Beaulieu in Geneva and Director of the Clinical Research Center of the A. de Rothschild Memorial.
In 2013 she founds the Centre Ophtalmologique de Florissant (COF) in collaboration with Dr Alexandros Stangos and Dr Angèle Mameletzi.
To date, she has authored or co-authored several papers in peer-reviewed journals and chapters in medical textbooks. She is actively involved in numerous multicenter clinical trials and serves as a reviewer in major Ophthalmic Journals. She is co-founder and member of the first executive office of the Swiss Glaucoma Group (GGS), member of the executive committee of the European Glaucoma Society (EGS) where she has the Chair of the CME and Certification Committee. For the past 8 years she is Vice-president of the European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO), chairing the EBO-Residency Review Committee as well as the CME accreditation Committee for live events and e-learning for Ophthalmology at the European level (EACCME: European Accreditation Council for Continuous Medical Education). Since January 2015 she was voted President-Elect in the EBO board.
She received the title FEBO (Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology) in 2009 and participates actively in the organisation of the annual EBOD exam in Paris.
She is Swiss National Delegate to the UEMS (European Union of medical specialists) and member of the CME Committee at the Swiss Ophthalmology Society (SSO).
